51 flights operated by airlines serving Bangladesh were cancelled or suspended due to the suspension of flight operations at various airports in Saudi Arabia, affecting 5,418 passengers traveling from Dhaka to destinations in Saudi Arabia.
CAAB disclosed the figure in a press release on Monday afternoon, noting the cancellations and suspensions occurred between Saturday night and Monday afternoon. Of the 51 affected flights, 12 were direct services to and from Saudi Arabia and 39 were transit flights.
Direct flights included four by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, two by US-Bangla Airlines, three by Saudia, and three by Riyadh Air. Transit services involved 16 by IndiGo, three by SalamAir, one by EgyptAir, nine by Emirates, five by Qatar Airways, and five by flydubai.
CAAB’s latest update indicates the restrictions’ impact now extends beyond direct flights to also disrupt transit services, creating uncertainty for travelers. Flight-tracking data indicated all flights bound for Riyadh were diverted or cancelled.
Private carrier US-Bangla Airlines announced that all its Dhaka–Riyadh–Dhaka services were cancelled until 21 October due to Riyadh airport closure, with the affected flights listed as BS 381 and BS 382. The airline urged passengers to avoid going to the airport and to contact sales centers or travel agencies for updates.
