A German airport briefly suspended flights after an emergency code was transmitted in error by an incoming plane, due to a brief malfunction in the radio communications system.

Corendon Airlines said the alert came from a flight from Corfu to Nuremberg while the aircraft was in Croatian airspace, and that the situation was monitored with investigations initiated and preparations made.

Nuremberg airport first said operations were temporarily suspended for the time being, but later noted that the flight from Corfu landed safely and that operations returned to normal.

Local police said there was no danger and everyone on board was safe, with the emergency report coming from the cockpit and the aircraft being escorted into Nuremberg by Eurofighter jets.

Police stated that the aircraft in question was a scheduled Corfu-to-Nuremberg flight that landed as planned, and on-site inspections found no danger.

Earlier reporting mentioned a possible drone sighting affecting air traffic overnight, but police said the Tuesday incident was not connected to any drone sightings.
