Air India Flight from Frankfurt diverted to Jaipur after hijack alert, probe on.
An Air India flight en route from Frankfurt to Delhi was diverted to Jaipur on October 13 after a security alert.
The aircraft landed safely at Jaipur International Airport, where CISF personnel, local police and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad began inspecting the jet and screening passengers’ luggage.
Airport officials disclosed that the alert was connected to a hijacking rumour, not a bomb threat, and an investigation is underway. The pilot reportedly activated Squawk Code 7500 while in the Mumbai Flight Information Region.
All passengers and crew were brought off the aircraft and moved to a designated holding area within the terminal, with security screenings conducted for passengers and baggage.
Preliminary information indicates the plane was near Indian airspace when the alert was issued, prompting notification of Air Traffic Control and security agencies and the subsequent diversion to Jaipur. The exact number of passengers on board was not immediately available.
