IAH travelers should check Wednesday flight status after fiber-optic line damage
Passengers should check flight statuses before arriving, airport officials said, after flights at Bush Airport faced delays Tuesday due to a damaged a fiber-optic line.
Travelers passing through Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport were advised to check flight statuses on Wednesday morning after disruptions caused by a damaged fiber-optic line the prior evening.
Repairs were completed overnight, and Houston Airports reported no current impacts to operations, but they urged passengers to verify the latest status with their airline.
The issue led to significant delays and cancellations on Tuesday as crews worked to restore service, with operations gradually returning to normal around 9:20 p.m., according to Houston Airports.
The Federal Aviation Administration implemented a ground stop at Bush from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. while repairs were underway, and Houston Airports said they were coordinating with airlines and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to assist affected passengers.
Passengers can find flights affected by the equipment damage on the Houston Airports website, which provides updated flight status information.
