DGCA Investigation: Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu states that the DGCA's investigation into the false hijack alert on Air India flight AI2030 from Frankfurt to Delhi will determine if changes to security norms are necessary. The flight was diverted to Jaipur on Wednesday, landing safely with 293 passengers and 13 crew members on board.
Air India flight AI2030 from Frankfurt to Delhi was diverted to Jaipur after a hijack alert, which later proved to be false, and the aircraft resumed its journey after security checks.
The incident involved a Boeing 787-9 with about 293 passengers and 13 crew members on board, and it landed safely at Jaipur International Airport on Wednesday morning.
The diversion and subsequent checks are being reviewed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), with the Civil Aviation Minister noting that a decision on any security-norm changes will be made only after the probe concludes.
Minister K Rammohan Naidu said the exact sequence of events is still under investigation and that final information from the DGCA is needed before determining any potential changes to security norms.
During the same public appearance in New Delhi, Naidu emphasized expanding Pawan Hans’ fleet and explored opportunities in eVTOL aircraft and seaplanes, separate from the ongoing investigation.
