KIA Bengaluru and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) have signed a sister-airport agreement to deepen ties in technology, cargo and economic links between Southern India and Western Canada, with an emphasis on developing direct air connectivity between Bengaluru and Vancouver.
The pact was announced during a six-day Canadian trade mission to India, led by Canadian Minister of International Trade, Maninder Sidhu, and attended by nearly 300 delegates from across Canada. The delegation included participants from aerospace, space, clean technology, ICT, life sciences and agri-food sectors.
The agreement covers seven areas of collaboration, including airport technology, operational efficiency, innovation projects and air cargo movement. It also aims to explore YVR’s Digital Twin technology and to test and develop innovative solutions to improve airport operations and passenger experience.
Bangalore International Airport Limited’s Chief Operating Officer, Girish Nair, described the partnership as a path to exchanging expertise in smart airport technologies, data-driven decision-making, sustainable operations and terminal performance management. The collaboration is positioned to support growing sectors such as technology through enhanced cargo transport between Canada and Southern India.
