Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis fired missiles at Aden International Airport, according to Yemeni officials, a day after a deadly attack on the presidential palace in Aden.

Yemeni Information Minister Moammar Eryani said two missiles landed near the airport runway, about 500 metres from a plane that was preparing to take off, and that civilians on the aircraft were safe. He labeled the attack a grave violation of international law.

Aden’s security authorities described the incident as the second attack on the airport in less than a week, and a statement attributed to a military source said the Houthis targeted the Saudi forces’ command headquarters in the Badr camp and a weapons depot in Aden province.

The Aden Security Department noted a Yemenia Airways flight bound for Cairo was preparing for takeoff when the missiles landed, with the broader context noting ongoing heavy fighting and continued clashes between government forces and the Houthis.

Separately, Yemeni government forces reported gains in Marib province with claims of territorial advances and air support, while the Saudi-led coalition released footage of strikes on what it called a Houthi weapons-smuggling operation in Hodeidah.

Overall, the fighting and attacks in Aden and across Yemen continue to raise concerns about the humanitarian crisis, with aid agencies warning conditions are worsening amid the renewed conflict.
