Egyptian Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El-Hefny highlighted ongoing expansions of Egypt’s airport infrastructure during the MedAire Aviation Security Summit 2026, with a focus on raising operational efficiency to match anticipated air traffic growth.

El-Hefny noted that the construction of Terminal 4 at Cairo International Airport is a key element of broader expansion plans aimed at meeting rising future demand, alongside efforts to improve service quality and integrate advanced technology.

The summit, held under El-Hefny’s patronage, gathered airline executives, civil aviation representatives, security authorities, and flight-operations experts from the Middle East, Africa, and Europe to discuss modern risk management and business continuity strategies.

MedAire’s Hany Bakr opened the event by stressing the importance of stronger collaboration and technical information sharing among stakeholders to enhance airlines’ ability to respond to emerging risks and maintain uninterrupted flight operations.

MedAire officials Peter Taghi and Riley Rajan outlined the company’s capabilities in security intelligence, risk assessments, in-flight medical emergency management, and crisis response support, noting MedAire’s long-standing global experience since its 1985 origins within International SOS.

In a panel on balancing growth with security and resilience, El-Hefny underscored proactive risk management, dynamic information-sharing mechanisms, and closer alignment among civil aviation authorities, airlines, airport operators, and air navigation providers, highlighting the role of digital solutions and data analytics in decision-making.
