Icelandair has announced a new long-haul destination for 2027, expanding its network from Keflavik International Airport (KEF) to St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL). The service is planned to start in May 2027 and will operate seasonally during the summer.

The route will use a 160-seat Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft for the nonstop flights between KEF and STL. This marks an increase in Icelandair’s US footprint, bringing the total number of US destinations to 16.

The move will also extend Icelandair’s partnership with Southwest Airlines to cover the STL corridor, signaling a broader alliance focus for Southwest in connecting more cities to Icelandair’s network.

Southwest’s involvement through the STL route is highlighted as a strategic element for both carriers, aiming to strengthen the business case for Icelandair’s expansion while signaling an intensified focus for Southwest in the region.
