An IndiGo Chennai-Goa flight aborted its takeoff at Chennai International Airport after a bomb threat was reported to the airport control room around 5:40 pm on Monday.

airport authorities denied takeoff clearance and the aircraft was moved to a safe harbour, with security forces and bomb squad alerted to the scene.

All 176 passengers and six crew members were evacuated to a safe location, and luggage and cargo were removed for screening as part of the precautionary measures.

A thorough search of the aircraft, including its exterior, interiors, passenger belongings, and cargo areas, was conducted with sniffer dogs and security personnel; the probe extended for more than four hours and found no explosive material, confirming the threat as a hoax.

The flight later resumed operations and departed for Goa at 10 pm after a four-hour delay; Chennai Airport Police have registered a case and are investigating the source of the threat.
