Boston Go-Around Caused By An Uncleared Etihad Boeing 787 Entering The Runway
The jet's crew acknowledged the need to hold short of the runway, but crossed it anyway.
A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner operated by Etihad Airways caused a runway incursion at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) last week. The widebody had arrived from Etihad’s main hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) in the United Arab Emirates and was taxiing toward its gate.
During taxi to the stand, air traffic control instructed the aircraft to hold short of one of BOS’s six runways. The crew acknowledged the instruction to hold short but proceeded to cross the runway anyway.
The incident occurred as the Etihad jet was on its route to the stand after touchdown. The event took place at a major U.S. airport, where standard procedures require aircraft to stop at designated hold-short points.
There are no details provided about any injuries, fuselage damage, or operational impacts beyond the runway incursion. The published material does not specify any follow-up actions or investigations.
