Flights remain disrupted as airlines face risk due to Middle East conflict

New Delhi-based reports indicate ongoing disruption to Gulf-bound operations despite a partial restart at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport late last week. Several international flights have been cancelled as the Middle East conflict escalates with Houthi missile and drone activity.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency has extended its advisory against flying over parts of the Gulf and surrounding waters, covering UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar, at least through November 16. The warning targets EU airlines and non-EU carriers operating to, from, or within the EU.

Airlines have responded by halting routes or altering flight paths to avoid Iranian, Iraqi, Israeli, and Gulf airspace. This has affected schedules for Indian travelers heading to the Gulf and Western destinations, with many carriers adjusting operations accordingly.

Air India and Air India Express have suspended flights to Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam through October 24. IndiGo has cancelled services to Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Madinah until October 24, while Akasa Air is suspending Riyadh until October 24 and Jeddah until October 21.
