New technology creates new business opportunities and that’s the story behind a tiny eVTOL that is front and center at the world’s biggest business aviation convention. DTA Aircraft is showing its two-place hybrid multicopter in the atrium of the Las Vegas Convention Center and thousands of people attending NBAA-BACE pass by it daily. DTA CEO Theo Parant says he invested in the show because some of the 27 people who have already ordered the $365,000 machine are business jet owners who have a singular use for the aircraft. “They will use it to fly from their homes to the airport,” said Parant, who made a major announcement on the French company’s future in the U.S. We included the DTA vehicle in our AirVenture roundup of personal eVTOLs, which we’ve copied below.
DTA will build the aircraft in Scottsdale, Arizona and they’re ramping up for a first flight on U.S. soil in April. A prototype is already flying in Europe but Parant said the eVTOL company will be based in the U.S. and customers want to see it fly in the U.S. “They want to see it with their own eyes.” Parant said the aircraft is the “modern alternative to the two-place helicopter” and serial production will begin next year. Although the Scottsdale plane is designed to build 100 aircraft a year, Parant said it will be kept to 50 units in the first year to ensure quality control.
