A ban on flying drones and other aerial devices around Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar has been imposed by the Amritsar Commissionerate Police. The restrictions went into effect on October 20 and cover drones, unmanned aerial systems, and remotely controlled microlight aircraft.

The order was issued by Police Commissioner Harmanbir Singh Gill under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. It aims to enhance security around the airport and prevent potential untoward incidents.

The ban extends to a range of aircraft and devices, including paragliders, para-motors, hang gliders, and hot-air balloons, in addition to drones and unmanned aerial devices.

Violators face legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, as part of enforcing the restrictions. The measure targets unauthorised aerial activity in the airport vicinity to bolster security around this sensitive installation.
