Türkiye plans $2B investment in aviation, space industries over three years
Ankara's three-year spending plan focuses on aviation infrastructure, national space projects and the commercialisation of homegrown technologies.
Türkiye plans to boost its aviation and space sectors with a multi-year investment package totaling nearly $2 billion, according to the 2027 central government budget draft and budget justification.
The budget for the national space and aviation programme is set to rise from $176 million this year to $495.7 million in 2027, an increase of about 181.7 percent. Projections show the funding climbing further to $616.9 million in 2028 and $745 million in 2029.
In the aviation domain, about $377.3 million is earmarked for constructing, operating, and servicing air transport facilities, with total aviation infrastructure investments projected at $581.1 million in 2028 and $596.2 million in 2029 to meet growing domestic travel demand. Passenger capacity targets envision 272 million airport passengers next year, rising to 282 million in 2028 and 291 million by 2029.
On the space side, the expanded budget will support Türkiye’s National Space Programme, including dedicated research, testing infrastructure, and the commercialisation of high-value-added domestic technologies, as the country advances its space ambitions.
