Houthis claim strikes on Saudi defense ministry and Aramco; two killed in Dammam airport attack
Saudi Arabia confirms two deaths and eight injuries at Dammam airport, but not Houthi claims of strikes on Riyadh's defense ministry or Aramco sites in Yanbu; the attacks have prompted Washington to order nonessential personnel to leave the kingdom
The Houthi movement said it carried out strikes against multiple targets in Saudi Arabia, including the Defense Ministry in Riyadh, Aramco facilities in Yanbu on the Red Sea, and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.
Saudi authorities confirmed a deadly attack on Dammam’s King Fahd International Airport, with two people killed and eight injured. The airport reported damage but said operations had resumed and air traffic returned to normal.
No independent confirmation was provided for the Defense Ministry or Yanbu Aramco targets, and Saudi officials had not immediately verified hits at those locations.
In addition to the Dammam attack, authorities reported a separate incident at Aramco’s Shaybah oil field, where Saudi air defenses intercepted a drone; two foreign workers were killed and two others injured, with operations at the field described as unaffected.
The Dammam attack raised security concerns in the Eastern Province, where the airport is located, and followed a recent surge in assaults on Saudi aviation and energy infrastructure.
