A Saudi airport worker died after he helped combat a fire caused by an attack at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, according to the report.

Sultan bin Ali Al Mastour Al Qahtani was on duty when a projectile struck the facility, igniting a fire near an aircraft carrying passengers. He and colleagues moved toward the flames with handheld extinguishers to prevent the fire from reaching the aircraft.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 21, near Gates 19 and 20, and the Saudi aviation authorities later reported casualties, including the death of the worker and injuries to others.

Sultan inhaled smoke while assisting at the scene and subsequently developed breathing difficulties and chest pain. He was taken to hospital, where his condition deteriorated and he died.

His father described him as a martyr who prioritized passenger safety, noting Sultan’s immediate response to the emergency and his willingness to risk his own safety to protect others. He leaves behind a wife and six children.
