‘Will never be safe’: Houthis warn as Riyadh airport resumes flights
King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh resumed flight operations on Sunday and designated terminals for domestic and international services, hours before Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis renewed their warning against using the “military target”.
King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh resumed flight operations on Sunday, with Terminal 1 designated for domestic flights and Terminal 2 for international flights operated by national carriers. The airport administration announced the terminal assignments in a passenger update posted on X, effective Sunday, October 25, 2026.
Passengers with confirmed bookings were advised to verify flight status with their airlines before traveling to the airport. The advisory urged travelers to check in advance and noted cooperation and compliance with the instructions.
Later on Sunday, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree renewed warnings against using the facility, stating that operations targeting the airport would continue. He warned airlines, airport staff, and travelers against traveling through Khalid Airport in Riyadh, describing the airport as unsafe and a military target.
Saree claimed the Houthis had targeted locations in Riyadh and other Saudi cities, including Yanbu and Dammam, and referenced attacks on energy infrastructure such as Rabigh Refinery and the East-West oil pipeline. He also mentioned targets at airports and military facilities, listing additional sites like King Fahd International Airport, Najran Airport, and Khamis Mushait Airbase.
Amid the security situation, Air India and Air India Express suspended flights to and from several Saudi destinations, with Riyadh and Dammam services paused through November 7 and Jeddah services through October 31. The airlines offered affected passengers rebooking or refunds.
