TORONTO — Passengers on board a WestJet flight bound for Jamaica received an unexpected—and unwelcome—travel companion on Wednesday morning after flight attendants discovered evidence of a mouse in the cabin.

WestJet Flight WS2566 departed Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) for Montego Bay (MBJ) at 8:35 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Shortly into the flight, crew members operating the Boeing 737 MAX 8 (registration C-GFJO) discovered mouse droppings inside overhead storage bins and snack trays used for service.

The rodent itself was later spotted near the aircraft’s rear galley, leading staff to believe at least one mouse was roaming free inside the cabin during the journey.

Despite the unwanted guest, the flight proceeded as scheduled to its Caribbean destination. The aircraft landed safely at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay after a three-hour and 35-minute flight.

Aircraft pest sightings, while relatively rare, trigger strict sanitation and inspection protocols due to potential health concerns and the risk of rodents chewing on critical electrical wiring.
