Etihad Airways has launched the first non-stop service between Abu Dhabi and Calgary, marking a historic direct link between the UAE and Western Canada.

The inaugural flight EY29 touched down at Calgary International Airport on October 25, 2026, welcomed with a water-cannon salute as part of the celebration. Calgary becomes Etihad’s second Canadian destination and its westernmost gateway, joining Toronto in the airline’s Canadian network.

The new route operates four times weekly—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays—using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with Business and Economy cabins. The service is designed to provide direct access from Calgary to Abu Dhabi and onward connections to the GCC, Africa, India, Pakistan and other parts of Asia.

Etihad indicates the route will strengthen Abu Dhabi’s role as an international aviation hub and support tourism, business travel and investment between Canada and the Gulf region. Alberta officials describe the direct link as enhancing international connections and opportunities for Alberta businesses.

Calgary Airport Authority officials say the service improves international connectivity and offers more travel options, while Tourism Calgary expects the route to attract visitors to the region’s landscapes and attractions. The flight operates EY29 outbound from Abu Dhabi to Calgary, with EY30 returning to Abu Dhabi.
