King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh reopened two terminals on Sunday after a closure earlier in the month due to Houthi attacks, according to a statement from the airport.

The Houthis claimed new operations on Sunday, with spokesperson Yahya Saree saying the actions were in retaliation for attacks in Sana'a and Yemen's southwest. The group outlined targets including King Khalid, aircraft hangars, ammunition depots, drone control centers, and other sites at King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait, and the Southern Naval Base of the Border Guard Forces in Jizan, as reported by IRNA.

Saudi authorities said air defenses intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched toward King Khalid, and also destroyed a missile heading toward Khamis Mushait. It remained unclear whether those interceptions were the strikes Saree described.

Flights were disrupted on Sunday, with many cancellations reported. Flightradar24 showed limited traffic at King Khalid, though a Saudi Arabian Airlines plane from Jeddah did land in Riyadh, per The New York Times. The airport had been closed since an October 10 strike that killed 13 people and wounded more than 300.

The U.S. State Department issued travel advisories noting safety risks from the ongoing hostilities, including potential attacks on airports and travel disruptions. The embassy urged checking flight statuses directly with airlines and airports and advised extreme caution for travel in Saudi Arabia.
