Storm Boelo's gusty winds push passenger plane onto grass during landing in UK
A Jet2 flight from Venice briefly left the runway while landing at Birmingham Airport in the UK. The detour happened as Storm Boelo brought strong winds across the West Midlands.
A Jet2 aircraft briefly veered onto the grass beside the runway during its landing at Birmingham Airport in the UK, as strong winds swept the region amid Storm Boelo.
The incident involved flight LS1310, which was travelling from Venice to Birmingham on Sunday afternoon, according to the report.
Jet2 attributed the brief deviation to exceptional weather conditions brought on by Storm Boelo, noting the gusty winds affected the approach and touchdown.
Video footage circulating online shows the passenger plane moving beyond the paved runway onto the adjoining grass before returning to the tarmac and continuing to its stand.
The event occurred as strong winds affected Birmingham and parts of the West Midlands, with the Met Office warning of impacts from Storm Boelo across northern England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
Passengers reportedly disembarked normally after the incident, with the aircraft returning to service following its arrival at the stand.
