easyJet will introduce Starlink Wi-Fi across its Airbus fleet despite stating earlier this year, following talks with SpaceX, that the “economics aren’t quite working for us”.

On October 26, 2026, the British low-cost carrier announced that starting from the first half of 2027, Starlink installation will begin across the airline’s Airbus A320, A320neo and A321neo fleet.

easyJet said the roll out is expected to be completed by early 2028, allowing millions of passengers to access Elon Musk’s low-Earth orbit satellite powered connectivity.

The airline said in a statement that customers will be able to stream, game and browse on their own devices, just as they would when on the ground. There was no mention that the service would be free.

easyJet hopes that the move will attract even more business and leisure customers. The introduction will also put clear daylight between the service easyJet and rival budget airline Ryanair offers.

Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary has shown no interest in adopting Starlink and was embroiled in a recent public social media spat with Musk over the cost.

In January 2026, easyJet CEO Kenton Jarvis expressed some concerns over the cost of Starlink for the airline but praised the product.

“When the time is right, we’ll pick the right service,” Jarvis said.

With the latest announcement, it appears that the numbers were now working for easyJet and will proceed with the investment.

“Innovation is in easyJet’s DNA and partnering with SpaceX to bring Starlink’s high-speed internet connectivity onboard for the first time will not only further enhance the experience we provide millions of customers, but means we are offering more of the options both business and leisure travellers want when they choose who they fly with,” Jarvis said.

He added: “Giving customers the opportunity to get online in the air will mean even greater choice and convenience when you fly with easyJet. Ultimately, it’s yet another way we’re making travel easy.”

Low-cost carriers see value in Starlink

Other low-cost carriers that have signed contracts for Starlink include Wizz Air, Frontier Airlines, and Volaris.

According to ch-aviation data, easyJet currently operates an active fleet of 78 A320-200s, 51 A32neos, and 22 A320neos.

The carrier also has 39 A319-100s, but these are gradually being replaced and will not feature Starlink, according to easyJet. The carrier is awaiting delivery of 120 A320neo and 151 A321neo.

“We’re proud to bring Starlink onboard easyJet and transform the way their customers stay connected throughout their travels,” Gwynne Shotwell, President and COO of SpaceX, said. “Fast, reliable connectivity from take-off to landing means people can work, stream, or stay in touch without interruption.”
