Yemen’s Houthi group has claimed new attacks aimed at Saudi Arabia, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, shortly after Saudi authorities announced that flights had resumed.
The airport’s online schedule showed several domestic and international arrivals, with flights from Dubai, Paris and Cairo, while flight-tracking indicated some departures but ongoing cancellations for many services.
Houthi figures, via military spokesman Yahya Saree, said three military operations involved dozens of ballistic missiles and that the Riyadh airport strike hit its target. Saree also claimed strikes on King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait and a naval base in Jazan.
Saudi authorities had not issued public comments about the latest alleged attack or the extent of the resumed airport operations at the time of the report. Saree had warned Riyadh airport was unsafe and a military target, and suggested Saudi actions would have consequences.
The Houthi statements come amid ongoing conflict-related disruption in the region, with previous strikes on Riyadh airport contributing to broader economic and scheduling impacts for events and travel. No independent verification of the claims was provided in the material.
