Dublin Airport experienced several inbound aircraft in holding patterns as strong southerly winds required a switch to the crosswind runway (16/34), according to an official airport update.

The airport noted "interesting flight patterns" and multiple runway changes over the past hour due to gusts and shifting wind directions affecting landings.

Weather advisories were in place with yellow wind warnings affecting western England, parts of Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, forecasting inland gusts of 45-50 mph and higher gusts along exposed coasts and high ground.

A separate yellow warning for strong winds and potentially damaging gusts was issued for most of Scotland and the far north-east of Northern Ireland from 3am on Tuesday until midnight, contributing to ongoing disruption potential.

The disruption at Dublin followed earlier cancellations and advisories, including around 40 flights cancelled on Sunday, with the airport advising passengers to travel to the airport with typical pre-travel windows and to stay in contact with their airline for updates.

Storm Boelo was cited as the broader weather system driving the winds, flooding, and travel disruption affecting several UK airports during the period.
