A major security operation was activated at Gran Canaria Airport on Monday evening after a bomb threat was reported involving a Vueling flight from Barcelona.

The affected aircraft, VY3008, landed at about 7:50 pm and was moved to an isolated area near Ojos de Garza beach in Telde so security specialists could conduct checks on the plane and its luggage.

Explosives experts and firefighters examined the aircraft while passengers and crew remained away from the aircraft as a precaution. The operation continued until the threat was deemed not credible.

Passengers were allowed to retrieve their belongings and depart the airport around 10:00 pm. The disruption included a delay to a Binter flight to Lanzarote of about 20 minutes, though overall airport activity was reported as continuing normally.

Authorities are investigating the origin of the threat and seeking the person responsible. The incident concluded without the discovery of any explosive device.
