A bomb threat on a flight from Barcelona disrupts operations at Gran Canaria Airport
The Vueling plane has been evacuated to an isolated room after landing without incident; the passengers of a Binter flight bound for Lanzarote waited about 20 minutes to be able to take off
A bomb threat prompted Gran Canaria Airport to activate a special operation on Monday night regarding a Vueling flight from Barcelona to Gran Canaria. The aircraft landed without incident and its passengers were disembarked and moved to an isolated room, while a check of the plane and its luggage was pending.
The disruption also affected other travelers at the airport, including passengers on a Binter flight to Lanzarote. That plane had already boarded and was in the takeoff queue when the crew informed the passengers that departure could not proceed due to the bomb threat.
Travelers aboard the Binter aircraft remained on board as they waited for updates on the evolving situation, with several other planes scheduled to land at Gran Canaria circling while awaiting clearance.
Approximately 20 minutes later, the Binter flight to Lanzarote was able to depart, according to one passenger cited in the report. The Government Delegation stated that the inspection of the Vueling aircraft and its luggage was ongoing, with no additional details on the results released at that time.
