JetBlue Airways saw its shares rise more than 11% in premarket trading after the airline sought to reassure investors about its financial position despite reporting a quarterly loss that was wider than expected.

The report notes that fuel price pressures contributed to the quarterly weakness, with costs rising sharply amid ongoing global tensions. The broader industry context includes weather and air traffic disruptions that have compounded cost challenges this year.

JetBlue entered the period with liquidity of about $2.2 billion and an undrawn $600 million credit facility, along with roughly $7 billion in unencumbered assets, including aircraft and engines valued after updated appraisals.

Management also raised its full-year seat revenue growth forecast to a range of 13.5% to 14.5%, up from 10% to 12.5%, while continuing to flag fuel costs as a drag on profitability. Analysts noted that liquidity and aircraft assets could provide runway, but fuel remains a key factor for the path to profitability.

Fuel expenses surged in the quarter, with JetBlue paying $3.91 per gallon, up 57% from a year earlier, while unit revenue grew by 18.4%, underscoring margin pressure from higher fuel costs despite stronger pricing. The rebound in shares came after a period of decline tied to reports about creditors engaging restructuring advisers amid a bond selloff.
