Atlantic Airways has placed a firm order with Airbus for two A320neo aircraft as the carrier pursues its ambition to build and all A320neo fleet.
On October 27, 2026, Airbus the purchase comes as Atlantic Airways, the national airline of the Faroe Islands, is looking to transition to a next-generation fleet.
Atlantic Airways currently operates a pair of A320-200s and two A320neos from Vágar Airport (VSE), the Faroe Islands’ only airport.
With this latest agreement, the carrier now has four A320neo aircraft on order, forming part of its long-term investment plan of up to DKK 2 billion ($298 million).

Atlantic Airways confirmed the two newly ordered A320neo aircraft are scheduled for delivery early next decade.
“Our ambition is to operate an exclusively A320neo aircraft fleet in the near future, and this agreement marks a significant step towards achieving that goal,” Niels Mortensen, Chairman of the Board of Atlantic Airways, said. “This investment will help ensure the continuous renewal of our fleet while supporting efficient operations.”
Atlantic Airways has previously stated in annual reports that it plans for all aircraft to be Airbus A320neo type by 2030.
The airline previously operated several Airbus A319-100s. The last was retired in 2022.
“We are pleased to strengthen our partnership with Atlantic Airways as they advance toward a complete A320neo fleet,” Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business, said. “By adding two additional latest generation A320neo aircraft to their future fleet, the airline is reinforcing its commitment to regional connectivity.”
He added: “We look forward to continuing our support to facilitate efficient connections for the Faroese communities.”
