Flying with Ryanair? Baggage drop-off rules are changing
Europe’s largest airline made the change to ensure customers have more time to clear airport security and passport control.
Ryanair says passengers checking luggage will need to drop their bags off at least 60 minutes before departure, up from the current 40-minute window. The update applies to all airports the airline operates from and takes effect on 10 November.
The change is intended to give customers more time to clear airport security and passport control queues, particularly during busy travel periods. Ryanair notes that about 20% of its passengers currently check in bags on their flights.
Passengers using airport bag drop services are urged to arrive in good time and ensure they have checked in and dropped their bags before the 60-minute cutoff prior to departure.
This adjustment follows the airline’s ongoing efforts to manage peak-period queues and streamline the check-in and baggage process for those traveling with checked bags. The information is provided by Ryanair’s communications as part of its customer service updates.
