ANA holdings to fully acquire parent of two midsize airlines
ANA Holdings is exploring the possibility of operating the two airlines under the ANA brand in the medium term.
ANA Holdings plans to acquire full ownership of RegionalPlus Wings, the holding company controlling Airdo and Solaseed Air, through a stock swap in April. The move would bring the two midsize airlines under shared ownership with ANA, which already holds more than 15% of RegionalPlus Wings.
Airdo is based in Sapporo and operates routes primarily to and from that prefecture. Solaseed Air is headquartered in Miyazaki and mainly serves areas in Kyushu and Okinawa in southern Japan.
Both Airdo and Solaseed Air currently code-share with All Nippon Airways, a subsidiary of ANA Holdings. The proposed acquisition aims to boost profitability by enabling integrated flight operations and centralized procurement across the two airlines.
The strategy focuses on leveraging ANA Holdings’ broader network to improve efficiency and financial performance amid ongoing sluggish earnings from domestic operations. The target timeline for the stock swap is set for April.
