NASA’s X-59 quiet supersonic test aircraft made its public debut on Wednesday as it launched on its first long cross-country. The plane left the secure confines of Edwards Air Force Base and stopped in El Paso, first. By the time it got to Fort Worth, word had gotten out and a few videos emerged. The leg from Fort Worth to Birmingham was well covered. The aircraft is headed to the Kennedy Space Center where it will be part of the Max Power event staged by NASA to show advances in aviation and space technologies. The videos below show the aircraft arriving in Fort Worth and taking off for Birmingham.

I checked FlightAware this morning and spotted the flight plan had been filed for the NASA aircraft, so naturally, we raced over to the base to catch their takeoffs!

Listen to those engines on the NASA X-59 QueSST as it takes off!

She is on her way to Birmingham now.
