Naples Airport will be closed to air traffic for the entire month of November to undergo a €30 million renovation program. The project targets the runway and connecting taxiways, with additional modernization of visual aids lighting systems to improve safety and reliability.

The work will be carried out continuously, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to minimise disruption during the typically quieter November period. The plan includes replacement and upgrading of runway and taxiway lighting and illuminated signalling systems.

To mitigate disruption, some airlines are relocating aircraft to nearby Salerno Costa d’Amalfi and Cilento airports, with services connecting the two areas by road and rail where possible. Naples-based carriers operating to destinations such as Bergamo, Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, Genoa, Turin and Trieste will be affected by the closure.

Flight operations to and from international destinations will be redirected from Naples to various hubs, with services linking to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Casablanca, Dubai, Dusseldorf, Madrid, Paris, Sharm el-Sheikh and Stuttgart via the alternative airports. Bus and rail adjustments are planned to support passenger movements during the closure.

Additional transport options include increased bus services between Naples Piazza Garibaldi and Salerno Airport, enhanced services to Salerno railway station, and a trial of a fixed-fare shared taxi service on two routes: Salerno Airport to Naples Central railway station and Salerno Airport to Salerno Central railway station.
