Bristol flights suspended to huge European airport as it closes for a month
Naples Capodichino Airport will close for runway upgrades in November 2026, affecting airlines including easyJet and Ryanair. Passengers will need to use Salerno-Pontecagnano Airport, with operations at Naples scheduled to resume on November 30.
A major European airport will temporarily close in November 2026 for extensive runway upgrades, leading to the cancellation of all Bristol-originating flights to Naples Capodichino Airport.
During the November closure, Skyscanner shows no direct or indirect Bristol-to-Naples flights. easyJet historically operated four weekly Bristol–Naples services from February to October (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays), but the November service is affected by the shutdown.
Passengers traveling between Bristol and Naples will be directed to use Salerno-Pontecagnano Airport during the closure. A shuttle bus operated by GESAC links Naples to Salerno, running eight times daily in each direction, with tickets around €12 per person. An alternative is rail travel from Naples Central to Salerno.
Naples Capodichino Airport will undergo a wider upgrade programme as part of a multi-year plan, including a second terminal for non-Schengen destinations, more aircraft parking bays, an expanded cargo and logistics area, a new hotel, and improved transport connections. The works are described as radical and will proceed 24/7, with an estimated investment of about €30 million.
