The aircraft was operating from Badrinath to Dehradun when contact was lost near Hathi Parvat, close to Joshimath, with a crash reported near Joshimath by authorities.
A district-level aerial search was launched, and two additional helicopters were deployed to locate the missing chopper, which reportedly crashed into a hillside near the JP Power House.
Police, the State Disaster Response Force, the Army, and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police were dispatched to the site for relief and rescue operations, as weather conditions in the region were described as adverse.
The helicopter was operated by Trans Bharat Aviation, and officials indicated a joint rescue operation was under way, with assurances of airlifting those who were critically injured to higher-level medical facilities if needed.
The incident occurred amid ongoing rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand, with several areas experiencing snowfall and dropping temperatures, and meteorological officials forecasting continued rainfall in hilly districts in the coming days.
