Here’s Why Dassault Scrapped The Falcon 5X Before It Ever Entered Service
The Falcon 5X project was canceled before it could enter service, a fate similar to other programs that do not reach flight in commercial operation. The developing entity behind the 5X advanced through much of the planning process but ultimately did not reach deployment.
Dassault Falcon Jet Corporation progressed the platform into later planning stages and conducted a series of test flights during development. The project reached a near-ready state in terms of cabin design and flight-control concepts derived from fighter technology.
A key factor cited in the decision was a shortfall in French turbofan engines, which contributed to grounding the program despite extensive preparation and test activity.
Overall, the Falcon 5X did not proceed to production or service entry due to propulsion supply constraints, even though design and testing efforts had progressed substantially.
