Uttarakhand helicopter crash: Remains of all victims recovered

The Chamoli district administration announced that the mortal remains of all six people who died in the helicopter crash were recovered and sent to AIIMS, Rishikesh, on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred when the chopper crashed on a hillside near Chai village in Joshimath while returning to Dehradun from the Badrinath shrine, according to officials.

Remains were brought to the Community Health Centre in Joshimath by road and then transported to AIIMS, Rishikesh, by helicopter after completing necessary formalities.

Rescue teams comprising the Indian Army, ITBP, State Disaster Response Force, National Disaster Response Force, police, district administration and the Forest Department conducted the operation under challenging, high-altitude terrain, with bodies being taken out on foot along difficult mountain paths.

Officials said the operation began on Friday, and due to the remote location and terrain, it took more than 24 hours to complete the rescue effort.
