Four flights inbound to Jersey Airport could not land as scheduled on Saturday evening due to illegal and persistent drone activity around the airport, according to a statement from Jersey Airport.

The disruption marked a second consecutive night of flight cancellations and diversions caused by the same unlawful drone operation near the airport, affecting services from London Heathrow, Gatwick, and Southampton.

Police confirmed a multi-agency response to reports of drones operating in the area on Friday evening, with searches conducted across the west of the island and no drone operator identified at that time.

Jersey Airport said airlines are arranging alternative travel for passengers to reach Jersey as quickly as possible, and passengers were advised to check with their airlines for updates.

Authorities, including Jersey’s chief minister, indicated they are pursuing all avenues to identify those involved and to enhance detection capability and counter-drone technology, while stressing the safety of the travelling public and air operations.
