India-Saudi flights disrupted as Akasa extends Jeddah, Riyadh suspension
Indian airlines have suspended several Saudi services amid attacks on civilian infrastructure. The disruption has affected expatriates and Umrah pilgrims while prompting heightened safety advisories.
India-Saudi flights remain disrupted as carriers extend suspensions amid ongoing security concerns in the Kingdom.
Akasa Air on Sunday extended its suspension of Jeddah services until November 18 and Riyadh services until November 30, according to reports cited by PTI. The carrier joins other airlines in delaying operations to the region.
Air India and Air India Express had previously announced suspensions to Jeddah, Riyadh, and Dammam through November 14. IndiGo also extended suspensions to several Saudi destinations until November 14.
Saudi air operations continue at some level, with limited flights from Riyadh and other Saudi cities resuming in parts of the network. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for the latest schedules before travel.
The disruption follows attacks on civilian and critical infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, including airports, with Reuters reporting that the Indian embassy in Riyadh noted casualties in the October 21 attack on King Fahd International Airport and amid ongoing regional tensions.
