Authorities are investigating a plane crash in a residential area of Palm Beach County, Florida, after a Learjet 60 went down on Sunday afternoon, according to the FAA.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are conducting the investigation. The crash site is described as near Military Trail between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue North, as stated by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
The aircraft was traveling from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to the Bahamas, per FAA information. ADS-B Exchange data indicates the plane descended 27,000 feet in about one minute before flight-tracking data stopped.
The incident location is roughly four miles south of West Palm Beach, a city that has recently been renamed for former President Donald Trump. Trump was in the area earlier on the day of the crash.
Roads in the vicinity were impacted, with all lanes of Military Trail closed in both directions until further notice, and motorists were advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
