A private Learjet 60 crashed in a South Florida neighborhood, killing all nine people on board and leaving a large crater in the pavement. Authorities have not released the names of the deceased, and investigations by the FAA and NTSB are underway.

The incident occurred as the Bahamas-bound jet descended toward the ground, after the pilot reported icing and turbulence while at altitude. Air traffic control recordings indicate the aircraft requested a climb and later declared an emergency as the descent accelerated.

Video from bystanders shows the jet plunging to ground level, followed by a rapid explosion that produced thick black smoke and flames around the crash site. The disaster drew immediate attention from residents, with reports of debris and fires affecting nearby areas.

The flight originated from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was described by authorities as a private aircraft. The aircraft was operating eastbound at approximately 35,000 feet before troubles began.

Emergency responders evacuated about 600 people from a nearby mobile home community as investigators collected evidence and assessed the scene. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis noted there were no immediate reports of injuries on the ground, but officials did not specify the status of the people on board.
