A LOT-operated Boeing 737 MAX flying from London Heathrow to Warsaw Chopin Airport made an unscheduled landing at Warsaw-Modlin airport in Poland after a bomb threat was announced on board. The incident prompted the temporary closure of Modlin.

The bomb-threat alert was issued at 9:54 a.m. local time, and the aircraft landed at Modlin at 10:01 a.m., according to the airport and a LOT spokesperson. A total of 181 people were aboard the plane.

Modlin airport was closed “until further notice” while security services verified the reported threat and ensured the safety of those at the facility. Passengers and crew were reported to be in the arrivals hall as the threat was being assessed.

The airport later stated that it had resumed operations after the initial closure, with security services continuing to verify the threat and manage the situation for those at Modlin. The report notes that the aircraft involved is being checked by relevant services.

A separate bomb-threat report involved a SAS flight from Copenhagen to Warsaw, which landed at Warsaw-Chopin Airport and was being checked, while Chopin airport continued operations. Modlin and Chopin are both served by Warsaw’s airport network, with Modlin commonly used by budget carriers.
