Two passenger planes bound for Warsaw faced bomb threats on Tuesday, according to aviation authorities.

A LOT Polish Airlines flight from London Heathrow to Warsaw Chopin Airport diverted to Warsaw-Modlin Airport after a bomb threat was reported at 9:54 a.m. The Boeing 737 MAX landed at Modlin at 10:01 a.m. with 181 people aboard. Security teams, including explosives units, began checks after the landing, and passengers were evacuated as a precaution. Modlin Airport subsequently closed to operate the security response and to determine when operations could resume.

The airport reported the aircraft was carrying about 3.7 tons of fuel at the time of landing. Authorities directed the plane to a designated area for the security sweep.

Separately, a bomb threat was reported on an SAS flight traveling from Copenhagen to Warsaw. The aircraft landed at Warsaw Chopin Airport and underwent security checks after arrival, with airport officials confirming the ongoing security response.

Unlike Modlin, Warsaw Chopin Airport remained open during the security operations. The situation involved two separate threats linked to flights bound for Warsaw, with one arriving at Modlin and the other at Chopin. Warsaw has two airports, Chopin within the city and Modlin about 36 kilometers (22 miles) from the capital, commonly used by budget carriers.
