A Delta Air Lines flight bound for Florida was delayed late Saturday night after a passenger made a startling allegation, claiming the pilots were intoxicated prior to takeoff.

ATLANTA — Flight DL3079, operated by a Boeing 717 (registration N891AT), was preparing for departure from Gate B12 at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport’s Terminal S on the evening of October 31, 2026. During the boarding process, an unruly passenger publicly accused the flight crew of being under the influence.

In accordance with strict aviation safety protocols, Delta immediately pulled the crew from the cockpit to undergo formal medical evaluations and sobriety testing before allowing the aircraft to depart. Authorities have not confirmed whether any substance was detected, but the mandatory safety checks forced a significant pause in operations.

After resolving the safety hold, the flight was cleared for departure and pushed back from the gate more than an hour behind schedule. Flight DL3079 eventually touched down at Gainesville Regional Airport (GNV) in Florida at 10:33 PM EDT, nearly an hour past its scheduled 9:35 PM arrival time.
