Calgary airport celebrates opening of security lanes for domestic flights
The Calgary Airport is celebrating the opening of all its new security lanes for domestic flights.
The Calgary Airport has opened all nine of its security lanes for domestic flights, with the full configuration now in operation.
The new lanes are expected to allow nearly 2,000 passengers per hour to clear security, representing about a 70 percent increase over the previous domestic screening setup.
Calgary Airports chief operating officer Chris Miles described the upgrade as a step toward making the domestic travel experience more efficient, aiming to reduce time spent in line and increase comfort for travellers.
The upgraded screening lanes utilize enhanced CT X-ray technology, which allows passengers to keep electronics, medical devices, and liquids in their bags during screening.
CATSA officials highlighted the national deployment of CT X-ray technology as part of ongoing modernization of security screening in Canada, noting collaboration with Calgary Airports as instrumental to completing the YYC security checkpoint upgrade.
