Panic at Ben Gurion Airport as security scare sparks emergency evacuation
Passengers at Terminal 1 were rushed to a protected area and told to abandon their luggage after a driver breached an airport security checkpoint; suspect detained and screening resumed minutes later
A security incident at Ben Gurion Airport led to an emergency evacuation of passengers waiting at Terminal 1’s security screening area on an early Thursday morning, according to Ynetnews.
The event began when the driver of a stolen vehicle failed to stop at the airport entrance near Terminal 1, triggering a security protocol that moved passengers to a protected area inside the terminal.
During the incident, travelers were instructed to leave their luggage behind as part of the evacuation to the secured location, with the situation described as causing panic among some passengers.
After the driver was apprehended and the area deemed secure, passengers were allowed to return to the security screening and continue check-in, with announcements indicating a return to normal screening.
