Authorities say multiple flights in Europe have been diverted because of bomb threats
Multiple flights in Europe made emergency landings on Thursday after being diverted because of bomb threats, authorities said.
Authorities say multiple flights in Europe were diverted and made emergency landings because of bomb threats, according to CP24.
Finnair confirmed that Flight 1761 from Helsinki to Rome faced a bomb threat, with the aircraft landing normally in Rome and nothing out of the ordinary found onboard, per Yle reports. Authorities did not indicate any injuries or further incident on that flight.
Three Ryanair flights bound for Sofia, Bulgaria, also diverted due to bomb threats. Two of these flights, one from Copenhagen and another from Madrid, landed safely at Sofia’s Vasil Levski Airport, based on airport officials. The third Ryanair flight, from London Stansted to Sofia, was diverted to Plovdiv, Bulgaria, where it landed safely, according to Plovdiv Airport’s chief executive.
An additional report referenced by AP described an Aer Lingus Dublin to Rome flight diverted to Evreux military air base in western France due to a bomb threat. The plane landed safely, and all passengers and crew were accounted for, with bomb defusal teams examining the aircraft at the base.
The events occurred amid a week of multiple bomb-threat hoaxes affecting several European carriers, including LOT, Scandinavian Airlines, Wizz Air, and Ryanair. No injuries were reported in connection with these threats, and investigations or searches by authorities continued.
