The Voice of Logan Airport has been awarded to Chris Donisi, a pipefitter from Burlington, Massachusetts, according to Massport. The agency announced the winner Thursday morning and posted his audition video on its website.

Massport reported that more than 6,000 people auditioned for the role and 35,000 people voted in the contest. Donisi was selected as one of eight finalists.

In a statement, Donisi described himself as a homegrown Boston area native and highlighted his familiarity with the city and its movement. He suggested the role would be a fitting use of his voice at Logan Airport.

Donisi discussed his roots in a CBS Mornings interview, noting that his distinctive voice has been noticed since he was around 11 or 12 years old. He attributed the development to natural ability rather than a deliberate transition into voice work.

When asked about a favorite Boston phrase, Donisi referenced a well-known line from the film Good Will Hunting: “How do you like them apples?” He expressed excitement about his voice being heard by travelers at Logan Airport.
