The Airport Spending $335 Million So Connecting Passengers Stop Clearing Security Twice
Spokane International Airport (GEG) is undertaking a major expansion project that aims to connect its concourses and consolidate security, with the goal of eliminating repeat screening by 2030.
A portion of the airport’s main terminal curbside was closed on October 21, 2026, and motorists have been redirected to a temporary two-lane bypass road that is expected to remain in place through 2030.
Inside the terminal, baggage claim facilities are being relocated as part of the ongoing construction work to accommodate the new facilities and flow of passengers.
Crews are preparing the site for a new 255,000-square-foot Central Hall that will connect three concourses and support the planned security consolidation and streamlined passenger processing.
Spokane Airport is investing millions in this Central Hall project, with the broader objective of reducing the need for repeat security screening by 2030.
